Everlasting Life... Living In Eternity With God

Recently, while at a meeting at our local church, the question of eternal life was brought up and questioned.
What is eternal life?  What does eternal life mean?
There were several answers, of course, based on each individual's personal relationship with God, childhood upbringing, culture, etc.

One person welcomed the thought of eternal life, resting peaceful in the knowledge and wisdom that to sit in the presence of the Lord forever and ever would be more wondrous than we can ever begin to fathom.

Another couldn't grasp the concept of eternity, or where it would lead, or how long eternity would actually be.

Still others spoke of the science of living eternally and how so many people in the world today just do not want to grasp the possibility of a God or a love so great that He would want us by His side forever.

It makes them uncomfortable, so in their disbelief, they have created a world of excuses and misunderstandings of how Our Father in Heaven can be nonexistent.
But in searching so hard to prove His nonexistence, aren't they really proving the possibility of God's existence?

God created Adam and Eve and in doing so He created humanity - man and woman to procreate and fill the earth with human beings, made in His likeness. He breathed life into us and in His love for us, He gave us the freedom -- freedom of choice - a free will to choose to come into a relationship with Him as our Father in Heaven.

I believe that all of humanity is born with the innate knowledge of God as our Creator and Father. But as we live in a sin filled world, God's words get twisted by those who have chosen to refuse His existence.

Therefore, we live in a world of confusing viewpoints - misunderstandings and misinterpretations of God's desire for each of us to live a life in eternity with Him -- an everlasting life in Heaven where there is no pain or suffering, no more misunderstandings, no sadness or sorrow.
An everlasting life in the presence of Our Lord is sweet and wondrous love beyond anything imaginable here on this earth.

Some may wonder - Who is God??

He is our great provider who gives us what we need, often even before we are aware of our need.

He will embrace us in His love in the most trying times.

He brings peace to our heart when we hurt and He protects us with His guardian angels when we are caught up in situations that may bring us harm.

His love endures forever and Our love will endure forever as well because we have chosen to come into relationship

with Him.

He created the most wondrous beauty that fills the earth from tiny bugs, to the dragonfly -- to the sweet smell of a newborn baby's breath -- the sound of an eagle's cry as he soars high in the sky -- the vastness of oceans and the wonders of the sea --  but most of all...
He created you and me -- to love as He loves and to live as He wants us to live -- setting the example of love, forgiveness, joy and glory and peace that can only come from a relationship with Him.

I believe that as Christians who live in relationship with God  and who seek eternal life with Him, it should be our responsibility and desire to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who are misinformed, or duped by the misinformation presented by nonbelievers.

It is my heart's desire to share God's word and His works with everyone - believers and nonbelievers alike.

For isn't it the example we set as believers -- as God's children to walk the walk and talk the talk of faithful children of our Father in Heaven?

And isn't this example we show in our daily living truly showing everyone who God is because as we strive to live a Godly life, we walk in His image and others can desire to know Him based on His reflection in each of us.

God's Word is revealed to us in these Scriptures...

And this is the way to have eternal life -- to know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the One You sent to earth.  John 17:3

"Righteous Father, though the world does not know You, I know You, and they know that You have sent me." John 17:25

We proclaim to you what we have seen and heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us. And our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.  1 John 1:3

We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know Him who is true.

And we are in Him who is true -- even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life. 1 John 5:20

For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from You, and they believed that You sent me.  John 17:8

My prayer for today is for all of God's Children to walk in His image so that others can see His reflection in our hearts, our words and our actions every day and... for an eternal life with Him.

May God's Blessings and Peace be given to you each day.  Amen.
