Heavenly Thoughts ~~ Psalm 46:10

Heavenly Thoughts  for August 18, 2010
Psalm 46:10:
Have you ever felt yourself so overwhelmed by the pressures of life -- that you wanted to run and hide, hoping that when you came out of hiding all the problems would be gone -- made right -- and everything would be back to normal?

It is in these moments that we know we need to turn to God, but for some reason He seems so far away -- or maybe we think we are undeserving of His comfort and love because of past mistakes and poor choices.
So, we find ourselves in the midst of running away from God instead of into His presence where all things can be made right -- peace can be found and solutions to our problems dealt with successfully.

On a wall in my house I have the scripture verse
Psalm 46:10,  "Be still and know I am God..."
It is on the wall at the top of my stairway and although I don't take note of it everyday as I should, I do notice it when I am in a stressful situation and I have an extra need to be reminded -- I do not need to try so hard to control my situation myself.  Instead, I am to be still because God knows my situation and He knows my heart. He just wants me to be still and let Him be in control.
So often letting go and letting God is the hardest thing for us to do. We stubbornly insist that we must solely carry

our burdens.

But these burdens are not meant for us to handle alone.

I often pass by by my stairway and I look up and find contentment in the words of my Lord -- that have brought me peace in many times of distress in my life.

"Be still and know that I am God..."

It works in any situation at any time day or night. God is always there ready to lighten our load by lifting the burden and replacing it with His healing, peace and love.

I find myself feeling so very blessed and thankful for all the times I chose to be still in His presence and faithfully allowed Him to lift my burden!

May God Bless You and bring you everlasting peace and love.
