Every day in this world, people are verbally, emotionally and physically abused. From the time we - as children -  are growing up, we look to our parents for love and approval, seeking to make them happy, to do good and to be deserving of

their love.
As small children, we begin to learn from our parents. They are our role models.   We see our world through our parents eyes and shape and form our thoughts and attitudes based on how our parents view and interact with other people and the world around them.
For years, children have been growing up in broken homes -- homes that may not be visibly broken on the outside, but inside  - behind closed doors, a child learns the feelings of rejection, not being good enough, and not worthy of love.
Children learn what they see and they become survivors -- learning to live on thier own -wanting to be loved in life, but not knowing how to receive or give love because of the trauma they faced in childhood.  It is a circle that has to be broken, because if left unattended and not faced, the life cycle of the abuse continues from generation to generation. The neglected children of today become the abusive parents of tomorrow.

Ephesians 6:4 "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord."

That word exasperate in the Greek is παροργίζω (parorgizō) meaning to rouse wrath or to provoke.
Basically, Paul is telling the Church at Ephesus to not overwork or "abuse" your children in the sense that when they grow, they will have anger and wrath in their hearts towards you and God. But instead, show them the training and love of God.

The verses preceding admonishes children to obey their parents. All Paul is saying in this verse is, "Parents, don't 'abuse' the fact that your children should obey you by putting them in danger, causing harm to them, or overwork them."

God, our father in Heaven, desires for us to know a different life - A life filled with love and acceptance, freedom to give and receive love as He intends for it to be.

In Corinthians 4:15   PAUL  writes:

For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Our parents are not perfect and we will never be perfect -- no one is -- but God desires for each of us to look to Him as our Father -- our parent who will never do us wrong.
He desires for us to live full and productive lives with the ability to give and receive love.

We can always come to to our Father in Heaven for the love, forgiveness and peace we seek.

Matthew 7:7
So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

John 14:27-28
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

I pray that in your times of trouble -- in broken homes and with broken hearts -- you will find the strength and knowledge to rely on
Our Father in Heaven.

Blessings to all !!
