For God hath not given us the spirit of fear...God's promise to us. 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 23

I originally wrote this in 2017 and as I read over it again, I see how so much more meaning it has today...

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23 KJV
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
The Word of our Lord is unchanging; written for our instruction, to give us an understanding of what once was and what is to come.
The Word of our Lord is our handbook for life.
As we are living in what appears to be perilous times,
we question our safety.
We hear of violence occurring everyday, as evil actions seek to overtake the world and create fear and torment in the minds of people.
Are we going to be afraid to go to the mall or the movies?
Are we going to be afraid to send our children to school or even to go to work?
Are we going to be afraid to simply take a walk or go to a park?
Are we even going to be afraid to go to church?
Churches have forever been considered a sanctuary for people, a place of safety with our Lord in His house; located in our neighborhoods, in small towns and in large cities.
Church shootings bring people to their knees in sadness, loss and grief for the evil that has perpetuated in a House of God.
When we see these acts of evil happen, we also see God's people coming together in prayer, a rising up of good against the evil actions that plague a part of mankind.
God lives in the hearts of His people.
Not every person who has a God heart is sitting in a church on Sunday morning, but many are meeting in fellowship, worshiping our Lord and singing praises to His name.
Regardless of where we are on any given day, be it a Sunday or any other day... inside the heart of every God person is His love, His goodness, His peace, His joy, and a knowledge of the safety that He provides.
Inside the heart of every God person is this knowledge: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  2 Timothy 1:7 KJV
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Psalm 23  KJV

My prayer for today is that we stay in constant prayer with our Lord, praying for those whose hearts have been broken by the violence; praying for those who have lost their way and uplifting the Word of our Lord, as we refuse to hide in our homes in fear of evil... but rather, take the light of our God into the streets, piercing the darkness with the love of our Father in Heaven.
May our churches continue to be filled with a people of God... in peace and love and in glorious praises to His name!
The Word of our Lord is unchanging; written for our instruction, to give us an understanding of what once was and what is to come.
The Word of our Lord is our handbook for life.
Praise God from whom ALL Blessings come. In Jesus name, Amen.
